I earned two degrees simultaneously from the University of Kentucky in 2002. For my Linguistics degree I completed courses in phonological analysis, grammatical analysis, historical linguistics, modern English grammar, and a two-course, graduate-level TESL track that earned me a certificate in teaching English as a second language.
For my Japan Studies minor, I completed two full years of Japanese language, a six-week, two-course summer field seminar in Japan, and several Japanese history and culture courses.
